Am I Better Now?

Walking down the lane,
Every day in mundane,
On the verge of agony,
But displaying any.
Am I better now?

Laughing over the jokes,
Cracked by those,
I would not indulge with,
Or get intoxicated with.
Am I better now?

Listening to all the tales,
I find worthless,
Yet I am here,
To them, I am all ears.
Am I better now?

Taking all in,
Drinking like a poison,
Heeding the unwanted,
For this is what they wanted.
Am I better now?

Doing as they speak,
For they are mine to keep,
“Family is the priority,” they say,
So I keep myself at bay.
Am I better now?

I did what was expected,
And with what I was comprehended,
To your wishes, I bowed,
Am I better now?

Thank you so much, Vaishali. I’m glad you could relate to my poem. This is the only achievement of any poet.

      Thank you for motivating me.
